The Buick Skylark has six generations from 1953 to 1998.
The 1st generation 1953-1954 was a 2 door convertible styled close to the Roadmaster and came with a 5.3L Nailhead V8, only 1,690 were made.
The 2nd generation came back in 1961-1963 as a compact but was offered as a 2 coupe, hardtop & convertible, and 4 door station wagon. The Skylark came with a 3.2L V6 and 3.5L V8, with a 2sp automatic, 3sp & 4 sp manual transmission.
The 3rd generation 1964-1972 added the 4 door sedan and had 2 V6 & 5 V8 engines.
The 4th generation 1975-1979 scaled back with only the 2 door coupe, hatchback & 4 door sedan in the run. It came with a 3.8L V6 or one of 5 V8 engines.
The 5th generation 1980-1985 dropped the hatchback and scaled down to 2 engines, 2.5L Tech-4 & 2.8L V6 with a 4sp manual and 3 speed automatic transmission.
The 6th generation 1986-1991 added another 4cy and 6cy engine and swapped out the 4sp for a 5sp manual transmission.
The 7th generation 1992-1998 the last run, dropped the manual transmission. This run had a sort of pointed nose, which began to disapear with each front end change. The 1998 models were sold to the fleet-only market. The Skylark is to be replaced in 2012 with the Verano.
